Talent Intelligence Vs talent intelligence

The following is an excerpt from "Talent Intelligence: Use Business and People Data to Drive Organizational Performance"

"Talent Intelligence is the augmentation of internal and external people data with the application of technology, science, insights and intelligence relating to people, skills, jobs, functions, competitors, and geographies to drive business decisions."

There is also the overarching use of the term talent intelligence to consider. Is it a team, a function, an action, well arguable it is both dependent on the context. I would suggest that the following is applicable:

Proper Noun

  1. The function, industry, platforms and field we refer to as Talent Intelligence.
    1. "The Talent Intelligence function can use data science to produce strategic insights "
    2. “the senior leadership team have invested in a holistic Talent Intelligence Platform to have insights across their full HR ecosystem”

Noun

  1. The output and deliverable of talent intelligence.
    1. "the Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning teams have created specific talent intelligence reports highlighting critical skills gaps in the future and the gap with the external market "

Verb

  1. The action and process of talent intelligence.
    1. "by completing targeted talent intelligence, we have been able to unearth our competitor organisational structures and go to market strategies”

Throughout this book you will see me use the terms talent intelligence as both a verb and a noun as well as Talent Intelligence as a Proper Noun as the function or Centre of Excellence that completes the talent intelligence activities and produce the talent intelligence reports or dashboards. This may seem like semantics but I think it is important to be clear about the phrase and what we mean by it. There is already a lot of confusion in the definition and the use of “Talent Intelligence” across the industry so having some clear guidelines is beneficial.
